Manatee County’s first Costco expected to open in August

LAS VEGAS — Hair salons, a lash studio and several restaurants will be neighbors with Costco in Manatee County’s Market Place at Heritage Harbour, according to preliminary plans from the developer obtained at a Las Vegas retail conference.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Miller’s Ale House, Longhorn Steakhouse, Sport Clips, Panera Bread, Blaze Pizza, Pacific Dental Services, the Hair Cuttery, Amazing Lash Studio, First Watch, Jersey Mike’s Subs, CoreLife Eatery, Verizon, Charter Communications and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen are listed on the site plan for Market Place, a nearly 500,000-square-foot retail development currently under construction at State Road 64 and Interstate 75 in Manatee County.

The plans were on display at the International Council of Shopping Centers annual ReCon conference in Las Vegas this week.

Mike McDermott, commercial leasing and acquisitions manager at developer M&M Realty Partners, said the tenants listed on the site plan are at least in the proposal stages. M&M Realty Partners is a venture of Edgewood Properties and JMP Holdings.

While McDermott said he wasn’t authorized to elaborate, he did say that Costco is scheduled to open by Aug. 19.

According to the site plan, the Market Place will also include a 37,000-square-foot fitness center, a 55,000-square-foot movie theater and 350 luxury residential units along the lake. Two big-box spaces are still listed as available, at 50,000 and 80,000-square feet.

The average household income within five miles of the property is $81,365 and the population is 101,856, according to information from M&M. About 200,000 square feet of retail is currently available, including restaurant and drive-through pads.

M&M is also developing another retail center, referred to as Heritage Harbour 25, at S.R. 64 and Heritage Green Way in Manatee County. That property, previously reported on by the Herald- Tribune, includes 75,000 square feet of retail.

Aldi, which was listed on the Heritage Harbour 25 site plan, is now on the site plan as “proposed.” About 50,000 square feet is available in that plaza, according to the site plan.
