A new lot at the SRQ airport will enable drivers to park for free until their arriving party is ready to be picked up in the baggage claim area.
Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport officials said Friday the airport is opening a new cellphone parking lot in response to record-breaking passenger increases.
The new lot will enable drivers to park free until their arriving party is ready to be picked up in the baggage claim area.
“The lot is designed to reduce congestion and allow traffic to move smoothly around the terminal making it safer and easier to pick up passengers while eliminating the need to circle the airport or park in unauthorized areas while waiting for flights,” the airport said. “SRQ’s website can be utilized to assist cellphone lot users to track flight arrival times.”
Signs at the airports entrance will direct drivers to the lot on Rental Car Road.
Traffic at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport soared 51% in September, hitting a record 125,361 passengers for that month.
That marked the 19th consecutive month of growing passenger counts at the airport.
For the year, Sarasota-Bradenton has handled 1.39 million travelers, 40% ahead of the 2018 pace.
“With 11 new destinations starting service between now and the end of the year, we expect to continue this record-breaking growth over the next year,” president/CEO Rick Piccolo said recently.
